Ekin Erkan

 

Ekin Erkan is currently a researcher at The New Centre of Research & Practice and CUNY Graduate CenterErkan’s work spans the history of philosophy—with a particular emphasis on the legacy of naturalized Kantianism in the analytic tradition—neurophilosophy and philosophy of mind, as well as experimental philosophy. Ekin is currently researching under Barbara Montero, with an interest in theorizing physicalism without supervenience and the role that reflection plays in relation to cases of embodied expertise (e.g., sport, dance, performance) via the first-person ‘I’. Erkan has published a number of papers on Artificial Intelligence, philosophy of mind, and the history of philosophy including, most recently, “Mentality and Object: Computational and Cognitive Diachronic Emergence”, Cosmos and History: The Journal of Natural and Social Philosophy 16.2 (2020). Additionally, Erkan’s recent articles have been published in journals including The Review of Metaphysics, New Review of Film and Television Studies, The Journal of Value Inquiry, Philosophy East and West. Erkan is also is an editor of the journals Triple Ampersand and Barricade: A Journal of Antifascism and Translation, as well as an art and cinema critic for the online publication AEQAI.
