Joaquim Giannotti is a Teaching Fellow at the University of Birmingham as well as a Research Associate at the ERC-funded project FraMEPhys, led by Alastair Wilson, on metaphysical explanation in physics. He works on metaphysics of science and metaphysical areas of the philosophy of science. He has recently published papers on metaphysical grounding, fundamentality, the ontology of powers, and ontic structuralism. From September 2022, he will be the principal investigator of the ANID-funded project ‘Dual Aspect Essentialism: A Scientifically Responsible Metaphysics of Fundamental Properties’ at the Universidad de Chile. When he does not do philosophy, Joaquim lifts heavy concrete objects at the gym.
