Simona Tiribelli is Assistant Professor in Moral Philosophy at the Department of Political Science, Communication, and International Relations of the University of Macerata, where she teaches on Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and Technology and Global Justice, and she is key person of the Jean Monnet Chair Ethics for Inclusive Digital Europe. She is also Director for AI and Technology Ethics at the Institute for Technology and Global Health (USA), the MIT-founded PathCheck Foundation’s research and innovation hub, where she leads the ethics chapter of the WHO-ITU AI for Health focus group on AI for Outbreaks, and incoming Visiting Scholar at the NYU Center for Bioethics, NYU School of Global Public Health, at the New York University. Her research focuses on moral philosophy and applied ethics, with a specific focus on digital media ethics and ethics of artificial intelligence. On these topics she holds a European PhD cum laude in Global Studies. Justice, Rights, Politics from the University of Macerata and has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. Previously, she was Fulbright visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab Center for Civic Media of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and visiting researcher at the University of Paris Nanterre. Her works include a book (Moral Freedom in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, Mimesis, 2023) and articles appeared in philosophical and scientific journals, such as Ethics and Information Technology, AI & Society, TOPOI, IEEE Computer, and the American Journal of Public Health.
