Argumenta – Journal of Analytic Philosophy

Ernesto Napoli

I have graduated in philosophy at the University of Turin and then continued my studies at Scuola Normale Superiore Pisa, University College London and Oxford University. I have been a researcher in the philosophy of language at the Scuola Normale Superiore Pisa and the University of Padua and associate professor in Sociolinguistics and Philosophy of Language at the University of Urbino till my retirement.

The main focus of my research has been the semantics of natural language. To wit: names and descriptions, reference and satisfaction, referential and attributive descriptions, fictional names, descriptivism about names, indexicality and time sensitivity, quotation, negation, reports of so-called propositional attitude, Frege’s Puzzle, Kripke’s Puzzle.
